Bill Scott Interview
Bill Scott Interview
This week Cartoon Research released part of an interview with animation legend Bill Scott (1920-1985). Best known for his work on Jay Ward’s Rocky and His Friends (later The Bullwinkle Show), Scott previously worked at UPA. On three separate occasions--in the early, middle, and late 1950s--Scott was a writer (aka story man) and later producer for the Burbank-based studio. For UPA, Scott co-wrote some of its most memorable cartoons, including Gerald McBoing Boing and The Tell-Tale Heart.
Jim Korkis interviewed Scott in 1982. This interview resulted in an article in Filmfax magazine in June/July 1994.
The gag drawing above, unsigned but probably by John Hubley, shows Scott blithely dictating pro-union sentiments to a secretary. Note that his casual manner of dress would fit well into Pixar today.
